A week in the life of Kate
I am hoping to post a blog at least once a week to tell stories/keep you guys updated on all of the things I’ve been doing! With that being said, here is my week in review!
Hi all!
This week has been my most exhausting yet. That might have some correlation to the time I am getting to bed, but one can’t be entirely sure.
For this blog post, I am going to briefly recap each day.
Monday: Work consisted of a lot of meetings. After work, we had a community event with all of the young adults which involved food, games, ice cream, and worship around a bonfire. The bonfire worship didn’t last long as rain started pouring down on us, and the wind pushed smoke into our eyes and lungs. So our worship quite literally got up and moved inside as we sang, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. In the dining room, I’m gonna let it shine. In the living room, I’m gonna let it shine. In the bathroom……” As we moved from room to room, we sang accordingly.
Tuesday: This day was also full of meetings. To make the most of time, a podcast meeting got moved to the car as we drove to the mechanic to pick up another car. This podcast brainstorming excursion also made a stop at McDonald's. An obvious stop for brain food. After work, I made myself and my dear friend, Hannah Thompson, a feast. The menu consisted of spaghetti carbonara, texas toast, and salad. My mother would be proud. Then my house hosted a game night of Monopoly Deal, Mario Kart, and Jack Box with some fellow interns.
Wednesday: After work, I went on a 6-mile bike ride. This ride consisted of tears as I learned my best friend will be moving to France with her husband in July. Very bittersweet emotions. After this, I played some pickleball and some more Mario Kart. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in both.
Thursday: After work, I led a Bible study with my fellow interns on the book of Luke. We had a really good and enlightening discussion! Luke is a great read (as are all the books of the Bible).
Friday: The day began with a seminar on artificial intelligence. This actually really discouraged and saddened me. Call me an old grandma, but futuristic technology is a little scary. After a long, dramatic walk, I decided the future will probably not be as bad as I fear it to be. I came to this conclusion after passing an old man with a golf club and some hissing geese whom I thought were both going to chase me but didn’t. In the same way as the worst didn’t happen with these two interactions, it’s not going to happen with AI. I can trust God who is in control of all things, including and not exclusive to old men with golf clubs and hissing geese. After this, we had our very first practice recording for the podcast! This was super, super exciting, and lightened my mood! Post-work activities included some more pickleball fueled by some good ole’ Raising Canes.
Saturday: A friend from Grace came to see me and we took a trip to Chicago for some food, thrifting, and beach time. It was so fun getting to spend some quality time with her! I will be in her wedding this upcoming August!
Sunday: I went to church with a couple of other girls, but we arrived 30 minutes late because I got the time wrong, unfortunately. We sat out in the lobby and were able to catch most of the sermon thankfully! After that, I spent the day doing homework at Panera Bread (the best place on earth… besides church…)
This week was packed as you can see, but I’m very, very thankful to be here and to have days full of such life and fun!
